Non Basmati Rice


Rice is a good source of energy and it is rich in Carbohydrates and Protein. When compared to other grains, rice protein is considered as one of the highest quality proteins. Rice is low in fat and it is cholesterol-free. Rice is an ideal diet commonly consumed by over 70% of world’s population for its rich carbohydrates and essential vitamins.
Any rice other than basmati rice is named as non- basmati rice. In the world it has been reported that there are several thousand varieties of rice and out of which the maximum number are in India.
The non basmati rice are available in boiled form as well as in raw form.

After harvesting the paddy from the field, it is made dried in the open space and then it is boiled in water and the hull covering the rice is removed.


The paddy is not boiled and the hull covering the rice is removed after having dried in the open space. The raw rice is also called white rice.

In Tamil Nadu one of the most famous rice variety is PONNI RICE and another variety called SEERAGA SAMBA RICE is used to make Biriyani

There are also certain rice available which has Medicinal qualities.
